Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist are commissioned to serve our parish community in a number of ways by making Holy Communion available to the faithful. Also known as lay ministers of the eucharist, they are members of the parish who are chosen for their love of the Church and the Eucharist.  As in all the ministries of the parish, they show a willingness to serve their sisters and brothers in the practice of the Christian life.  Training  and continuing formation are prerequisite before being commissioned for this ministry.

Ministry at Mass

Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest and deacon in distributing Holy Communion, both the Body and Blood of Christ, at Sunday and weekday Masses. This ministry is open to all baptized and confirmed Catholics and we encourage participation by all age groups in our community.   

Communion to the Sick and Homebound

Our Eucharistic Ministers share the fruit of our Eucharistic Celebration through the gift of  Holy Communion with homebound or hospitalized parishioners. The Holy Eucharistic is taken after the celebration of Mass by a Eucharistic minister to those who are ill in their homes and in the hospital. Through this ministry, we extend the fruit of our Eucharistic celebration to those who cannot join us at Mass by sharing holy communion to our sisters and brothers who are ill.
